Time-lapse video of a teenage bedroom make-over in 10 days

Nina is my youngest daughter and she has had to be very patient as her room is the last room in the house to be renovated.  Here are the 10 days stitched together - and where we sourced the items.

First we decided on the "Blush & Grey" trend as her colour scheme, peppered with botanicals that we blogged about recently.  Read more here

There was already a white en-suite bathroom with a shower, but it was awkwardly partitioned in a way that limited her use of bedroom space and blocked out the light. The brief to my build team was to bring the dividing wall down, and save the tiling. We chipped out half the tiles, but we clearly marked where tiles were to remain in tact.  We ordered a frosted glass screen for privacy, but also to allow light to flood the space.

Thinking out the box, we put her basin in the bedroom space, converting a chest of drawers into a vanity unit. We had a stone mason template and fit the white stone top, popped a free-standing basin off center to the right, to allow enough space for toiletries and makeup on the left.

Sourcing :  Vintage-etc supplied the Bella Headboard, the Tara Chest of Drawers (under the palm poster) and the Vienna Vanity.

We had the Oak Bedside Pedestals custom made by Vintage-etc.com and these are now available to order on site here.

The wooden floors are from Builders Warehouse (laminate grey, called Maldives) were laid down from her door all the way into the bathroom to make the space feel continuous.

The curtains from @Home and the palm botanical poster is from Mr Price.  We made the glass terrariums ourselves with succulents, bonsai soil and white stones.

The wall stencilling cost R2200 and it was done from start to finish in half a day with the very efficient and professional ladies from Beautiful Changes, which is part of a female upliftment and empowerment programme in Cape Town.  Click here to see their Facebook page for more projects.

The cushions are from www.vintage-etc.com - and we are giving away a set of these exact cushions to one lucky follower.   The winner will receive 2 pink and grey Aviary Cushions and 2 grey Savoy Cushions. To qualify you need to sign up for our newsletter and follow us on Facebook.
